The question and District's response follow:
Q. Were the requirements of 10CFR50 Appendix B applied to the 11N1 (nuclear Class 1) section of RCS vent lines installed in 1972 and subsequentley modified in 19837 A. The District did apply the requirements of 10CFR Appendix B to the nuclear Class 1 section (llN1) of the high point vent lines. Included in the application of the Appendix B requirements are:
- The vent line piping installation in 1972, up to and including the -
first manual isolation valve, and
- The branch line, installed in 1983, up to and including the second isolation valve.
The Dis ~crict committed to the Appendix B requirements originally in the SMUD QA ManJal (prepared by BeChtel) at the time of Construction and subsequently in the SMUD QA Manual currently in effect.
