l Gentlemen:

REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR ASME SECTION III COMPONENTS HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION i

j DOCKET NO. 50-354 It has come to the at.tention of Public Service Electric and i

Gas Company (PSE&G) that some manufacturers from whom ASME Code Section III "N" stamped components were originally 1

purchased have discontinued their "N" stamp.

When procuring i

replacement parts, it is sometimes necessary due to component function, or size to procure the part from the i

original manufacturer to ensure compatibility.

In the l

cases, where the original manufacturer has discontinued i

being a stamp holder, PSE&G requests permission to procure the replacement part without an "N" stamp.

}

These parts would be procured to meet all the ASME Section III requirements, including all appropriate quality j

assurance requirements in NCA of Section III, with the 1

i exception of the "N" stamp.

The quality assurance l

requirements will comply with 10 CPR Part 50, Appendix B.

l Parts procured from manufacturers who no longer have an ASME i

certificate of Authorization will be subject to 100 percent inspection by PSE&G.

In addition, these parts will be qualified for service and will meet the requirements of IEEE 323-74 and IEEE 344-75.

Surveillance requirements to

~l.

periodically demonstrate operability will be implemented in accordance with the in-service testing program.
