SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-416/96-18
Dear Mr. Hagan:
An NRC inspection was conducted October 28 through November 8,1996, at your Grand
Gulf Nuclear Station reactor facility The enclosed report presents the scope and results of
that inspection.
This inspection consisted of observations of maintenance activities, nondestructive
examinations, documentation reviews, and discussions with plant personnel associated
with the maintenance and inservice inspection programs.

Our inspection results indicate that the maintenance and inservice inspection activities
i
observed were generally executed correctly. However, the implementation of a deficient
work order by craftsmen from other Entergy sites was impacted by their unfamiliarity with
l
plant equipment. Our limited inspection of inservice inspection program documentation
i
identified no deficiencies.

As discussed in paragraphs M1, M2, and X1 of the enclosed report, two matters
characterized as potential violations at the exit meeting on November 8,1996, were
subsequently determined not to be violations of NRC requirements.
,
in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter
and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
