" Justification for increasing Reactor Trip System On-line Test intervals" LEVEL OF SIGNIFICANCE:

Safety Evalut, tion Report (TAC M95773)
DATE OF ISSUANCE:
Expected early 1997 STATUTORY OR JUDICIAL DEADLINE:
None DESCRIPTION OF ACTION:
The staff expects to issue a safety evaluation report in early 1997 approving the B&W Owners Group generic request to increase the current technical specification required surveillance testing interval for the reactor trip system instrumentation.
This relaxation is justified by the B&W Owners Group based on a probabilistic risk assessment of the reactor trip system. B&W licensees may reference the staff's generic safety evaluation when requesting plant specific license amendments for this technical specification change.
