SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-458/97-04
Dear Mr. McGaha:
I
An NRC inspection was conducted January 6-10 and 20-24,1997, at your River Bend
Station reactor facility. Following the exit meeting, the final results of this inspection
were discussed with you and your staff on February 21,1997. The enclosed report
i
presents the scope and results of that inspection.
i
Based on this inspection, we have determined that your corrective action program is
[
functioning satisf actorily. Further, there were indications of improvement as exemplified
,
by improving operating performance trends and by recent work products showing
[
enhanced scope, judgement, documentation, and depth of analysis. Although the
j
inspection identifies some weaknesses, we were encouraged that most of these problems
had already been identified by your staff.
l
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter
and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
Should you have any questions concerning this inspection, we will be pleased to discuss
them with you.
