Dear Sirs:

The Emergency Plan for the University of Missouri-Rolla Reactor Facility (Docket Number R-69) has been revised under the provisions of 10CFR50.54q. The revision does not decrease the effectiveness of the plan as specified in 10CFR50.54q (page 25, section 10.3, sentence 2).

The revision commits to an annual calibration of the radiation detectors located in our emergency box. The annual calibration frequency is consistent with the calibration frequency used for the other reactor survey instmments. The previous wording of the Emergency Plan stated that the emergency box detectors would be " checked using a calibration source on a semi-annual basis" ,

Individuals or organizations directly affected by changes and/or revisions of the Emergency Plan or associated procedures will be notified in writing ~and revised pagefof i those documents will be distributed to those persons who have copies of the Emergency a l Plan.'

1 10.3 Equipment Maintenance .

The emergency box located in the Physics Building will be inventoried on an annual basis by the Campus Health Physicist or his representative and all equipment contained therein  !

l will be checked for proper operation. The emergency box radiation detectors will be  ;

i calibrated on an annual basis and necessary maintenance performed at that time. Rev. I 2/19/91 l

l The Reactor Facility equipment is aligned and checked for proper operation as part of the i

surveillance requirements of the Technical Specifications for this facility.-
