NOTICE OF VIOLATION AND PROPOSED IMPOSITION OF CIVIL PENALTY -

$100,00 (NRC Office of Investigation Report No. 2-93-015 and Department of Labor Administrative Law Judge Recommended Decision and Order, dated July 31,1996)

Dear Mr. Kingsley:

This will acknowledge receipt of your letter dated February 11, 1997, and your electronic transfer for $100,000 in payment for the civil penalty imposed by NRC in a letter dated January 13, 1997. The NRC's expectation is that the civil penalty in this case will serve to remind the Tennessee Valley Authority of the importance of ensuring that employees feel free to raise safety concerns without fear of retaliation as stated in the NRC Statement ~ of Policy,
