l This letter provides Duquesne Light Company's (DLC's) sixty-day response to l

Generic Letter 96-05 (Reference 1).

i The actions requested by Generic Letter 96-05 will be implemented by ensuring the effectiveness of the current Beaver Valley Power Station (BVPS) Generic Letter 89-10 (Reference 2) Program, DLC will ensure that the program verifies, on a periodic basis, l

that safety-related motor-operated valves (MOVs) within the scope of the BVPS Generic Letter 89-10 Program continue to be capable of performing their safety functions within 1

i their respective current licensing bases of the BVPS Unit 1 and Unit 2 facilities.

DLC is a member of the Westinghouse Owners Group (WOG) which has established a group tasked with developing a generic periodic verification program to j

address the issues identified in Generic Letter 96-05. The WOG has determined that it will participate with the Boiling Water Reactors Owners Group in this task. Active participation in the WOG will provide a supplementary resource for the review of the i

BVPS program. The WOG activities and the review of our program will be consistent with the schedule requested in Generic Letter 96-05.
