NRC Letter dated September 18,1996, GL 96-05, " Periodic Verification of Design-Basis Capability of Safety-Related Motor-Operated Valves" Generic Letter (GL) 96-05 requested f hat licensees establish a program to verify on a periodic basis that safety-related Motor-Operated Valves (MOVs) continue to be capable of performing their safety functions within the current licensing bases of the facility. The program should ensure that changes in required performance resulting from degradation (such as those caused by age) can be properly identified and accounted for.
GPU Nuclear Inc. (GPUN) intends to complete the requested actions and submit a summary description of the MOV periodic verification program by March 18,1997 as requested by the GL.
