Provision 10 CFR 50.55a(a)(3) requires the licensee to provide acceptable alternatives to the requirements of the rule.
Please provide a summary of alternative provisions Georgia Power Company (GPC) plans to implement relative to the containment repair and replacement activities i
during the requested one year relief from the requirements of the rule.

In the third paragraph of the letter dated December 2,1996, regarding l
the repair and replacement of ASME Class 1, 2, and 3 components, GPC indicates that it is using a version of the ASME Code Section XI that is different from the 1992 Edition (with 1992 Addenda) of the ASME Code used for the repair and replacement activities of the containment.
Please provide information regarding the version of the ASME Code that is used for ASME Class 1, 2, and 3 components, and discuss the differences between this version and those of the 1992 Edition of the Code.
