SUMMARY

OF JANUARY 30, 1997, MEETING WITH ABB COMBUSTION ENGINEERING REGARDING REVIEW 0F CENPD-137, SUPPLEMENT 2-P, SMALL BREAK LOSS-0F-COOLANT ACCIDENT EVALUATION MODEL On January 30, 1997, representatives of ABB Combustion Engineering (ABB-CE) met with representatives of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) at the ABB-CE's offices in Rockville, Maryland. Attachment 1 provides a list of j

meeting attendees.

j The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ABB-CE's responses to the staff's request for additional information (RAI) dated December 18, 1996. The RAI raised questions regarding the steam flow phenomena planned to be implemented in the proposed ABB-CE small break LOCA evaluation model (CENPD-137, Supplement 2-P.)

ABB-CE, the staff and its contractor discussed their progress toward resolution of remaining open issues. The issue of loop seal clearing was tentatively resolved, pending submittal of documentation.

Regarding the issue related to steam flow phenomena, ABB-CE presented results of analyses using the TRAC code.

However, because of the complexity of the issue, further study 1

is needed, and resolution is ongoing.
