Dear Sir:

In response to GL 80-10, PECO Energy Company (PECO Energy) oeveloped and implemented a program to verify the design basis capability of motor-operated valves (MOVs) within the scope of the GL program. PECO Energy has made a significant commitment of resources toward implementing the GL 89-10 program. Completion of the program involved more than a five year 0 effort. ,

As part of our GL 89-10 program, we have established a program to periodically verify that the safety-related MOVs continue to be capable of performing their safety functions within the current Licensing bases of the facility.

l PECO Energy will review our current periodic verification program and determine whether any j changes are appropriate in ligt:t of the information presented in GL 9645.

GL 9646 also requests that a summary description of the MOV periodic verification program be

submitted by March 17,1997. PECO Energy will complete the review of the existing program j snd provide a verification program summary description by March 17,1997, i

Finally, the generic letter requests a schedule for completing implementation of the MOV I t

periodic verification program. As stated previously, PECO Energy is already implementing an

established periodic verification program. Based on the results of our evaluetion of our existing i

! program in light of the information presented in GL 9645, PECO Energy will provide a more

! definitive implementation schedule with our verification program summary dese % by March
