Dear Dr. Murley:

Mi'Istone Nuclear Power Station, Unit No. 3 licporting of Potential Significant Deficiencies in Accordance with ICCritSO.S$(c):

Skewed Annie Fillet Welds (50 80)

In an April 12,1983 telephone < onversation between your Mr. T. Itebelowski and our Mr. P. J. Colnlan, Northeast Nuclear Energy Company (NNCCO) reported a potential significant deficiency in the construction of Millstonc thilt No. 3 in acc ordance with 10CFit SO.S$(c). The potentlot significant delit lency involved the weld preparation on skewed fillet wcld joints.

As noted in referen(c (1), our architect engineer, Stonc & Webster Engineering Corporation, has (ompleted their review of the 3 or 4 $1ded welds and deterinined that this is not a significant defitirncy and that the welds are acceptable as tv.

As noted in Reference (2) 133 2-sided welds were being reviewed on a case by case basis for acceptability. All of these welds were found to be acceptable as is and determined not to constitute a significant deficiency in accordance with 10CFit30.53(c). As such, we consider this to be our final report for SD-30.

% e trust this infortnation is suf ficient to close this issue.
