60-DAY RESPONSE TO GL 96-05: " PERIODIC VERIFICATION OF DESIGN-BASIS CAPABILITY OF SAFETY-RELATED MOTOR-OPERATED VALVES" REOUIRED RESPONSE Within 60 daysfrom the date of this generic letter, Baltimore Gas and Electric Company is required to submit a scritten response indicating schether or not the requested actions svill be completed.

Response

The requested actions are to establish a program to verify, on a periodic basis, that safety-related MOVs continue to be capable of performing their safety functions within the current licensing basis of the facility. The program should ensure that changes in required performance resulting from degradation (such as those caused by age) can be properly identified and accounted for.

We are currently revising our program to verify, on a periodic basis, that safety-related MOVs continue to be capable of performing their safety functions within the current licensing basis of the facility. The revised program will meet the requested actions of Generic Letter 96-05, and will ensure that changes in required performance resulting from degradation (such as those caused by age) can be properly identified and accounted for. We currently expect to implement this program by March 17,1997.
