OF OCTOBER 17,1996, MEETING
Dear Mr. Cottle:
i This refers to the meeting conducted in the Region IV office on October 17,1996. This meeting was conducted to inform the Region IV staff of HL&P's efforts on their Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR) review and assessment of programs that maintain the licensing basis for the Soutli Texas Project. The presentation included an overview of activities, purpose and scope of UFSAR review, and status of review and concluded with the current results of the review. Your presentation also included a reenforcement of South Texas Project's commitment to effective control of the licensing and design basis of the plant. Your current assessment of your review indicated that you were approximately 53 percent complete with the review, which will extend into 1997.
In accordance with Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part 2, Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter will be placed in the NRC's Public Document 1
Room.
