OPEN CONTAINMENT EQUIPMENT HATCH DURING CORE ALTERATIONS - ARKANSAS NUCLEAR ONE, UNITS 1 AND 2 (TAC NOS. M95895 AND 95896)
Dear Mr. Hutchinson:
By letter dated June 28, 1996, Entergy Operations, Inc. submitted a license amendment request for the Arkansas Nuclear One, Units 1 and 2, to permit the containment equipment hatch to be open during core alterations. However, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is in the process of finalizing the rule for shutdown operations and our granting the request in advance of the rule would be premature.
Therefore, the NRC does not plan to act on your request until the rule for shutdown operations is final. Accordingly, the NRC recommends that you l
consider withdrawing the application at this time.
