I Thank you for your letter of February 15, 1978, and for your invitation for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to take part in the civil readiness exercise, REX 78, supporting the Department of Defense mobilization exercise NIFTY NUGGET 78.

i Since we are a Federal agency involved in licensing and regulating, our role may not be too significant in the support of the military mobilization and deployment activities of the combined exercise.
Nevertheless, we want to be involved in REX 78 to the extent possible.
The objectives set forth in your letter appear to be worthwhile and j
