Since our letter dated October 30,1996 which committed to a response by January 28,1997 as requested by the GL, the work efTort for GL 96-06 has experienced a delay. The delay is partly because of the amount of work involved and also because of problems we experienced in applying the GOTHIC computer code (version 5.0e) to model the fan cooler system inside containment. The results of our analyses, which are nearly complete, still need to be documented in a report and design verified. Operability issues are being evaluated promptly in accordance with the guidance in GL 91-18.

As discussed with the TMI Senior Project Manager Bart Buckley, our response will be provided on February 28,1997.
