Enclosed for your information and comment is a draft Branch Technical Position (BTP),
" Screening Methodology for Assessing Prior Land Burials of Radioactive Waste Authorized under Former 10 CFR 20.304 and 20.302," dated October 1996. The draft BTP is being released for interim use and comment for a period of 90 days and was recently published in the Federal Reaister (61 FR 56716) on November 4,1996. Also, the history of 10 CFR 20.304 and 20.302 burials and the need for this screening methodology was outlined in Information Notice 96-47 (August 19,1996) that was sent to All Agreement States in August.
