Dear Mr. Haughney:
l On February 23,1996, you issued final approval of the enclosed highway route for shipment of spent reactor fuel through December 31,1996. This approvalis required by 10CFR73.37(b)(7).
The University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is tentatively scheduled to begin a series of shipments to the Savannah River Site in early 1997. Will you please arrange to extend the NRC approval of this route through December 1998.
