[External_Sender] plan to deposit radioactive waste in New Mexico

Dear Sir or Madam:

Re:

Holtec irradiated nuclear fuel Consolidated Interim Storage Facility (CISF) Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS)

Rotarians 4 Nuclear Ban would like to respond to this proposal saying that is Not a good plan. The time line of 40 years is way too short as your own documents suggest that radiation will be around for 120 years and that too is short. The transportation of highly radioactive waste will also create hazards. It also seems that there are going to be many transfers to different containers increasing the risk of accidents.

US citizens should not be taking the liability risks, which will be large, for this project. Liability should rest with the corporations that produced the waste in the first place. Further, while this report is for "temporarystorage with the view that it will go to Yucca Mountain, Yucca Mountain is not guaranteed and thus this could become permanent for all intents and purposes.
