l The purpose of this letter is to provide the NRC a sumnury of the activities at TMI-2 during the 3rd quarter of 1996.

During the 3rd quarter of 1996, GPU Nuclear completed the quarterly surveillance of the TMI-2 i

Reactor Building on September 18,1996. No adverse trends of radiological conditions were identified during the inspection. The next inspection of the TMI-2 Reactor Building has been scheduled for December 1996.

The Reactor Vessel temperature monitoring system reported the Reactor Vessel temperatures ranged from 70.l* F on July 1 to 78.1" F on several days during early September. The Reactor Building temperature ranged from 72.5" F on September 30 to 79.5 F on several days during early September.

The largest temperature difference between the Reactor Building and the Reactor Vessel occurred on July 1,1996, when the Reactor Building temperature was 3.6* F greater than the Reactor Vessel temperature.

plant equipment and minor repairs to the ventilation systent Dismantlement of non-radiological equipment continued with the dismantlement and rennval of the Main Transformers.
