Deportmem of Advanced TeChno!ogy E-MAIL February 27,1995 Mr. James Davis U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Mail Stop 7D4, NRR/EMCB 1

One White Flint North Rockville, MD 20555

Dear Mr. Davis,

Enclosed are six hard copies and two disk copies of a final technical letter report entitled " Examination of a Bolt with Boric Acid Attack from Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station." The report findings indicate that the evidence of the corrosion damage to the bolt is consistent with a root cause of failure due to boric acid attack.

The report was prepared as part of the effort under Task 8 of Job Code E-2089, and completes the work authorized under that Task Order, except for final disposal of the radioactively contaminated bolting materials. The bolts will be disposed of in two weeks, as called for in the Task Order.

If you have any questions or comments, please call me at the number listed above.

Sincerely, hI u-Biays S.
