30 DAY RESPONSE TO GENERIC LETTER 96-06 ASSURANCE OF EQUIPMENT OPERABILITY AND CONTAINMENT HOPE CREEK GE.TERATING STATION FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NPF-57 DOCKET NO. 50-354 This letter provides the 30 day response to Generic Letter 96-06 for the Hope Creek Generating Station.

and Gas Company (PSE&G) has reviewed the generic letter l

requirements, and will complete the requested actions within the required 120 day timeframe specified.

Specifically, PSE&G will, within the required time frame:

1) provide a description of actions taken to address issucs raised in the generic letter; 2) provide conclusions concerning the susceptibility to the waterhammer, two phase flow and overpressurization concerns described in the generic letter; 3) describe the basis for continued operability of any affected systems and components; and
4) describe corrective actions taken as appropriate.

PSE&G has been reviewing these concerns in order to determine the impact on Hope Creek.

Operability of any systems or components determined to be adversely impacted by these issues will be controlled in accordance with plant procedures.
