Gentlemen:

On September 30,1996, the NRC issued Generic Letter (GL) 96-06 " Assurance of Equipment Operability and Containment Integrity During Design-Basis Accident Conditions." The NRC required that all addressees submit, within 30 days of the date l

. of the GL, a written response indicating whether or not the GL requested actions will

be completed, whether or not the GL requested information will be submitted and whether or not the GL requested information will be submitted within 120 days of the date of the September 30,1996, GL. This letter satisfies PECO Energy Company's 30 day required response, stipulated.in GL 96-06, for Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station,- Units 2 and 3, and Limerick Generating Station, Units 1 and 2.

PECO Energy will implement the actions as requested in GL 96-06. PECO Energy will submit a written summary report stating actions taken in response to the requested actions, conclusions that were reached, the basis for continued operability, and any i

corrective actions relative to GL 96 06. Lastly, PECO Energy intends to provide the written qummary report to the NRC within 120 days of the date of the GL.
