Gentlemen:
1 The purpose of this letter is to advise the NRC of a change to the schedule for the
)
Waterford 3 Power Uprate (uprate) license amendment submittal. In previous correspondence dated July 16,1996, the NRC was requested to commit resources for the review of the uprate license amendment, which was scheduled to be submitted in April,1997. In light of current Waterford 3 improvement initiativet, which are ongoing as part of the Waterford 3 Focus Plan and conversion to the improved Standard Technical Specifications (NUREG 1432), Entergy management has elected to postpone the uprate one fuel cycle. Therefore, the Waterford 3 license amendment request is now scheduled for October,1998.
The uprate, which is now scheduled to be implemented in April,2000, will be based on an eight percent licensed thermal power increase. In that the parameters and analyses associated with the uprate will not change, the previously discussed level of NRC support is requested, involving a review cycle of 12 months with NRC approval of the uprate in October,1999.
