- 1. NRC Generic Letter 96-06 dated September 30,1996," Assurance of Equipment Operability and Containment Integrity during Design-Basis Accident Conditions" This submittal provides the Nebraska Public Power District's (District's) 30 day response to NRC Generic Letter (GL) 96-06 (Reference 1).
The GL requires each addressee to indicate in the 30 day response:

Containment air cooler cooling water systems are susceptible to either waterhammer or two-phase flow conditions during postulated accident conditions.
Piping systems that penetrate the containment are susceptible to thermal expansion of fluid so that overpressurization of piping could occur.
Within 120 days of the <ha of this generic letter, the District will inform the NRC of the conclusions reached as a n:sult of the above determinations. For affected systems, the submittal will describe the specific circumstances involved.
