Dear Mr. Hogg,
SUBJECT:
Renewal of License SNM-1513 The Eastman Kodak Company currently possesses U-235 under NRC License SNM 1513 and uses this material as an integral part of our Califomium Flux Multiplier (CFX). We intend to renew this license in 1998, sin it expires in April of that year. We plan to purchase a new Cf-252 source for the CFX in 1997, and are currently making preparations for this purchase.
Because of the cost of this purchase (~$250,000), we would like an indication from the NPC before we spend these funds as to whether there are any factors which would prohibit Ikense renewal, based on current and past Kodak compliance. (Note: our last inspection was April 1996, and no violations were received). We will treat any correspondence tlut you send regarding this request as unofficial, and realize that this note does not supplant a renewal request.
