liodification 11-4-2-83-12 Description This modification was to replace the 2-5401A and 2-5401B valves (SJAE Suction Valves on north side of Condenser). The Crane Gate valves originally installed were designed to be on a horizontal run of pipe with the operator vertical. These valves were put on a vertical run of pipe i
with the operator horizontal, causing the valve to stick in the OPEN position repeatedly. The Pratt Butterfly valves put in their place are more compact, less prone to stick, and have no design restrictions as far as being put on a horizontal run of pipe.
i Evaluation The replacement of these valves will not affect their operation, l
except to make it less likely that they will bind.- The isolation signals remain the same. These valves were purchased Safety Related and are qualified to initiate automatic isolation.
