l COMMONWEALTH EDISON COMPANY'S RESPONSE l

' TO INTERVENORS' MOTION FOR CONFIDENTIAL TREATMENT OF ELEVEN QC INSPECTOR NAMES Commonwealth Edison Company (" Applicant") providos the following response to the Intervonors' Motion for Confidential Treatment of Eleven QC Inspector Names.

On August 2, 1985, Applicant filed interrogatorios j which seek, intor alia, the identities of QC inspectors and descriptions of any instancos known to Intervonors of l harassment of thoso inspectors by Comstock management.

f l On the same day, Intervonors filed their motion i t requesting that the Board provido, on an intorim basis, for the confidential treatment of the namos of elovon of thoso .

! QC inspectors. Such intorim treatmont of confidentiality l

l would romain in offect "ponding filing and resolution" of a motion by Intervonors for a protectivo ordor relating to Applicant's interrogatorios.

l l

Applicant understands this to mean that a formal objection to its intorrogatories, in the form of a request i

for a protective order, is yet forthcoming. Applicant further understands that at that time Intervonors will be required to demonstrate the exceptional circumstances necessary to justify a protective order. Accordingly, Applicant will respond to Intervenors' arguments on the propriety of a protective order at that time. Assuming Intervenors' motion fer a protective order is timely filed, Applicant does not ob]ect to the Board treating the QC inspectors' identities at confidential "in the interim."

l Respectfully submitted, U c l a- y one of the Attorneys fot Commonwealth Edison Company -
