ACRS COMENTS ON THE INPO PROGRAM ON RADIATION PROTECTION During its 304th meeting, August 8-10, 1985, the Advisory Connittee on Reactor Safeguards heard a report from its Subconnittee on peactor Radiological Effects on the adequacy and success of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) program to assist connercial nuclear power plant licensees in the implementation of improved radiation I

protection programs. A s acific objective of this effort fwhich was the I

subject of a meeting of tiis Subconnittee on July 31, 1985) is to assure

the effective application of the ALARA criterion as an important com-i ponent of these programs, j

h On the basis of this report, we conclude that INPO is accomplishing this task in an effective and profe::sicnal manner.

We are favorably im-P pressed with the depth aid thoroughness of the INPO effort, and with the h

care they are exercising to assure that the analyses of the responses of L

the licensees to this effort are unbiased and accurate.
