Dear Mr. Beach:
Several weeks ago Mr. Abdoo provided you with a dran of our plan for the achievement of operational excellence in nuclear generation. During our recent discussion Iindicated that this plan has continued to evolve. As this plan has progressed we have increased our focus upon the underlying causes that have contributed to our performance deficiencies. I think our team has made some real progress in this regard, and I would like to provide you with an updated copy of our plan.
i The plan continues to be in drad form because I want to strengthen the ownership relationship with the various actions that we are undertaking, and further review the actions to ensure that they properly address the underlying issues. We are also sharing the plan document with alllevels of our nuclear organization, and are requesting employee feedback and suggestions for improvement. However, the plan is getting close to what I believe is needed. I would be very interested in any reaction you might have to our plan.
The appendices list the status of our commitments to the NRC from the enforcement conference held last year, as well as those associated with the restart of Unit 2. It is our intention to also list the actions we are taking in response to the Operational Safety Team Inspection in the appendices.
