St.F-1939 CAR 0LlHA POWER AND LIGHT COPPANY SHEAPON HARPIS hDCLEAR POWER PLANT RALFIGH, N0PTH CAROLINA DOCKET NO. 70-2097 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Connission (the Commission) is considering the issuance of Special Nuclear Paterial License No. SNM-1439 to pemit the receipt, possession and stora[;e of unirradiated ruclear fuel asse*Slies at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant (SHNNP) n, ear Paleigh. North Carolina.
The unirradiated fuel assemblies will be for eventual use in the SHNPP Unit 1 Once its operating license is issued.
The Cornission's Division of Fuel Cycle and Paterial Safety has prepared an Envircrriental Assessment related to the issuance of Special Nuclear fiatorial License No. SN"-1939 On the basis cf this assessment, the Connission has concluded that the environmental irpact created by the proposed licensing action would not be significart and does not warrant the preparation of an Environrantal impact Statecent. Accordingly, it has been detomined that a Finding of No Significant Impact is appropriate.
The Environmental Assessment is available for public inspection and copying at the Comission's Public Document Roon,1717 H Strant, N.'d., Washington, D.C.
