U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION VERIFICATION LETTER FOR THE PRESSURIZED WATER REACTOR OWNERS GROUP TOPICAL REPORT PWROG-17034, REVISION 0, EVALUATION OF THE WCAP-10325-P-A WESTINGHOUSE LOCA MASS & ENERGY RELEASE METHODOLOGY (EPID L-2018-TOP-0013)

Dear Mr. Nowinowski:

By letter dated March 20, 2020 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML20083K085), the Pressurized Water Reactor Owners Group (PWROG) submitted an approval (-A) version of Topical Report (TR) PWROG-17034, Revision 0, Evaluation of the WCAP-10325-P-A Westinghouse LOCA [Loss-of-Coolant Accident] Mass & Energy [M&E] Release Methodology to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The PWROG has submitted the TR in accordance with NRCs request to publish an approval version of this TR, as detailed in NRCs transmittal letter for the final safety evaluation (ADAMS Accession No. ML20024E883) dated January 31, 2020.

The NRC staff has completed its review of the approval version of the TR (ADAMS Accession No. ML20083K090). The NRC staff verified that Westinghouse has met the requirements and determined that the submitted -A version is acceptable for referencing in licensing applications for nuclear power plants to the extent specified, and under the limitations delineated in the accepted version of the TR. PWROG-17034, Revision 0, is now acceptable for use in future licensing actions.
