Nelson Grace SPR 85-007 Page Two July 3, 1985 EVENT DESCRIPTION On June 5, 1985 the area temperature for the Service Water Pumphouse (SWPH) exceeded the 102*F limit, established in Technical Specification 3.7.11, " area temperature monitors," for a period of approximately ten (10) hours.
The limit was exceeded between 1400 and 2400 hours0.0278 days
0.667 hours
0.00397 weeks
9.132e-4 months
with an ob served maximum temperature of 105'F.
Temperature monitoring was performed on an hourly basis.
The c omb in a t ion of high environmental a mb i e n t temperatures and thermal loads (within the building) caused the t e mpe ra tur e excursion.
The h ig h a mb i e n t t emp e r a tu r e s in s id e the SWPH hav e been evaluated and found to h ave no adverse effect on the equipment or its environmental qualifications.
CORRECTIVE ACTION TO PREVENT RECURRENCE To preclude a potential recurrence, the Licensee is presently installing a once thr ou gh cooling coil system in the SWPH ventilation' intake.
The modification is scheduled to be complete prior to July 15, 1985.
