Inspection Report 84-04 involved a special assessment of the GPU Nuclear I
program for maintaining occupational exposure As Low As Reasonably l
2 Achievable (ALARA) at TMI-2. As a result of this assessment, the NRC l
identified several perceived weaknesses in ALARA implementation. On January 23, 1985, GPU Nuclear forwarded to the NRC letter 4410-85-L-0021 (same subject) which discussed GPU Nuclear's plans for correcting the I
perceived weaknesses. This letter is being forwarded to modify and correct one (1) of these earlier responses, i
In response to perceived weakness 50-320/84-04-04, GPU Nuclear stated that an ALARA training program for personnel would commence six (6) months from the implementation date of the ALARA Program Plan. This l
statement was inaccurate. In actuality, the response should have stated

that the training program would commence six (6) months after implementation of the TMI-2 ALARA Program Procedure, 4000-ADM-4010.01.
This procedure was implemented on July 1, 1985; thus GPU Nuclear intends f
to start the training program by January 2, 1986.
