This is in reprd to your request for approval of a route to ne used for transport of spant raactor fuel as contained in your letter of October 1, 1085.

The route requested in your letter is judt;ed to meet the regul atory require-ments in accorviance with 10 CFR 73.37 for shi p1ents of spent f eel under i,part license IS'N-7917 and is approved through Dece,her 31,19M.

Arrangenents with law enforce,ent agoncies along the route as required by 10 CFR 73.37(a)(2) nave baen conpleted by the tRC staf f. n a ta rel ati ng to these arrangements and a copy of the approved route are mclosed. This information is to be incorporatM into your ship,ent plans and provided to your carrier along with instructions regarding its use.

Please note that assuring highway safety is tha responsibility of the licensee and carrier and our approval is not intended to provide relief in thi s rogard.

Durino seasonal periods sen inclment wather with accmpanying hazardous road conditions can occur with short notice, t'w appropriate state police should be contacted with regard to road conditions nefore a shipnent connences.

Please note that the notification requireaents of 10 CFR 73.37(f) and 73.72 for each shiplent still apply. Wen naking a notification to a governor or his designee, it should ho very specific cspecially with regard to notifica-tion of series shipaents. Written notification must designate exactly how 7dny individual ship 1ents are to be included. In the event the nu1ber of ship 7ents iq a series is revised, the change notification should indicate that it is a revision of tha oriqinal notification and an inc ra se or decrease in the n'rnber of shi p ents. In addition, the change notification shoul d spec-ify that the information for any of the shi p,ents in the revised serios nay not be decontrnlled until ten days af ter the arrival at the destination of the last shipaent in that series, l f  %
