SPECIAL REPORT 97-001 SEVENTH STEAM GENERATOR TUBE INSPECTION RESULTS i

This report is being submitted pursuant to Technical Specification 4.4.5.5.b and 6.9.2 to report the results of the seventh steam generator tube inservice E

inspection.

6 The seventh steam generator tube inservice inspection was completed by Westinghouse Elect ric Corporation on March 5, 1996 during the eighth refueling outage.

Of the 5617 tubes inspected in Steam Generator "B",

a total of 12 j

tubes were plugged dva to new indications found during the inspection.

Nine tubes had been previously plugged due to indications discovered during prior inservice int p RioiEi.'

Additionally, four of the 5619 tubes inspected in j

Steam Generator "C" were plugged due to new indications.

Seven tubes had been previously plugged due to indications discovered during prior inservice

- inspections.

The inspection.results, which includes the location and percent 1

of wall-thickness penetration for each indication of an imperfection, are listed in Section 3 of this report.

q In response to Generic Letter 95-03 "Circumferential Cracking of Steam j

Generator Tubes," additional inspections were conducted in Steam Generators "B" and "C"

to establish a baseline for future inspections. A 20% hot leg top j

of tubesheet, (1125 tubes) and a 20% row 1 ubend, (24 tubes) inspection program was performed in each steam generator with the Zetec Plus Point probe.

The results of these additional inspections did not indicate any degradation J

(cracking)'of the steam generator tubes.

J The results of the seventh steam generator tube inservice inspection have been classified into Category C-2.

Category C-2 is defined by Technical j

Specification 3.4.5 as inspection results that indicate that one or more tubes, but not more than 1 percent of the total tubes inspected are defective, or between 5 percent and 10 percent of the total tubes inspected are degraded tubes.

Steam Generator "B"

has 1.69 percent degraded tubes and 0.37 percent defective tubes.

Steam Generator "C" has 0.85 percent degraded tubes and 0.20 percent defective tubes.
