September 30, 1985 U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region II ATTN:
Dr. J. Nelson Grace, Regional Administrator 101 Marietta Street, NW, Suite 2900 Atlanta, Georgia 30323
Dear Dr. Grace:
Please refer to L. M. Mills's letter to J. P. O'Reilly dated October 15, 1984, which contained our response to EA 84-82 (OIE Inspection Report 84-20) for our Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant.
In item 5.c of that response, we indicated that the design criteria for electrical separation would be issued by September 30, 1985.
However, this criteria has been difficult and time-consuming to assemble because it is essentially an after-the-fact type document for physical and electrical separation requirements based upon both past and present separation practices. Because of these complications, this item will not be completed until December 2, 1985. On September 27, 1985, Mike Hollums of my staff and Art Johnson of your staff discussed this extension.
If you have any questions, please get in touch with R. E. Alsup at FTS 858-2725.
To the best of my knowledge, I declare the statements contained herein are complete and true.
Very truly yours, TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY r
