AFFIDAVIT OF CHESTER A. GRYGIEL (BOARD OUESTIONS ON ROREM 1(c))

Chester A, Grygiel, being duly sworn, deposes and states:

1. I am the Fire Chief of the Braidwood Volunteer Fire Department. My business address is 105 S. Division ST.,

P.O. Box 127, Braidwood, Illinois 60408. I have been Fire Chief for 8 years. I have been a volunteer with the Braidwood ?olunter.c Department for 37 years.

2. The purpose of this affidavit is to answer the question asked by the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board regarding hospitals in the Braidwood area. The St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet has been designated as the primary hospital for treatment of injured Braidwood Station personnel. The Licensing Board asked whether there were any closer hospitals. I will also speak to the Licensing Board's question about the use of a helicopter rather than an ambulance to transport injured Braidwood personnel to the St. Joseph Medical Center.

3. The following is a list of all hospitals in the Braidwood area, their approximate distance from Braidwood, and the approximate time it would take for one of our ambulances to travel to that hospital from the Braidwood Station:

4. I know these running times to be correct from my experience. These running times can also be confirmed by looking at the records that we maintain for every ambulance call. These records show the times of notification, departure, arrival at the scene, departure from the scene, and arrival at the hospital.

5. We could dispatch an ambulance to the Braidwood Station within 3 minutes af ter receiving a call. I believe that we could respond to the situation and get the patient to St. Joseph Medical Center at least as quickly as any helicopter. However, I know of the helicopter ambulance services in the area and would call them for assistance if they could be useful. We would do this for any emergency.

To the best of my knowledge and belief, the foregoing information is true and correct.
