NRC INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50 424/96 13 AND 50 425/96-13

Dear Mr. McCoy:
On November 22, 1996, the NRC completed an inspection at your Vogtle Units 1
and 2 reactor facilities. The enclosed report presents the results of that
inspection.
During the week of November 18-22, 1996, an inspection team observed
activities focused on the plume exposure portion of your emergency
preparedness exercise which was conducted on November 20, 1996. The emergency
response observed during the simulated accident was considered satisfactory.
Your attention is directed to the exercise weakness identified in the enclosed
Inspection Report. As required by Section IV.F of Appendix E to 10 CFR Part 50, any weakness that is identified shall be corrected. NRC identified
one Exercise Weakness concerning implementation of protective actions for
non-essential onsite personnel in )aragraph P4.2 of the enclosed report.
Accordingly, please advise us, wit 11n 45 days of the date of this letter, of
the corrective action you have taken, or plan to take, showing the estimated
date of completion with regard to this exercise weakness.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice " a copy of
this letter and its enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room
(PDR).
