Cleanup of Accidental and Unexpected Releases of Radioactive Materials AGENCY: Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

ACTION: Advanced Notice of proposed rulemaking; extension of coment period.

SUMMARY

On June 7,1985 (50 FR 23960), the NRC published for public coment an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) indicating that the Comission is considering whether to amend its regulaticns to require certain persons licensed to possess nuclear raterials to demonstrate that they possess adequate financial means to pay for cleanup of accidental releases of radioactive materials.

The coment period expired October 7,1985. A number of commenters have requested an extension of the coment period.

In view of the importance of the ANPRM, and the desire of the Comission to allow all parties to fully express their views, the NRC has decided to extend the coment period.

The coment period now expires on November 7,1985.

DATES: The coment period has been extended and now expires November 7,1985.

Coments received after this date will be considered if it is practical to do so, but assurance of consideration cannot be given except as to coments l

received before this date.
