Northem States Power Corrgmiy Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant 2807 West Hwy 75 Monticello, Minnesota 55362-9637 January 6,1997 Technical Specification 6.7.C.1 and 4.16.A.2 US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn: Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555 MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Docket No. 50-263 License No. DPR-22 Amendment to the 1995 Annual Radiation Environmental Monitoring Report The purpose of this letter is to amend the Monticello 1995 Annual Radiation Environmental Monitoring Report. During a quality services audit in October 1996, a missed sample at location M-5 was identified which was not reported in Section 3.3 or l
Table 5.3 of the 1995 Annual Radiation Environmental Monitoring Report.
j Location M-5 is required to be monitored continuously. From June 6,1995 to June 13, 1995, the sample pump for the air particulate / iodine filters for location M-5 only operated for 0.5 hours5.787037e-5 days
0.00139 hours
8.267196e-6 weeks
1.9025e-6 months
. All other air particulate / iodine filter sample results were below the lower limit of detection and all plant process monitors showed no abnormal releases during the period of June 6,1995 to June 13,1995.
This 0.5 hour5.787037e-5 days
0.00139 hours
8.267196e-6 weeks
1.9025e-6 months
sample was not identified as a missed sample during the preparation of the 1995 Annual Radiation Environmental Monitoring Report. Since some monitoring had been done during the week, the sample was determined to be partial sample rather than a missed sample. The problem with the sample pump and the associated low sample volume was noted in Section 4.3 of the report. Due to the small amount of time the sample pump was running, this should have been identified as a missed sample and reported in Section 3.3 and Table 5.3. Procedures have been clarified to ensure such samples are properly reported as missed samples in future Annual Radiation Environmental Monitoring reports.
