Dear Mr. Chairman:
The chief elected official of the Town of Greenwich, Connecticut recently sent to me a transcript of a segment of "60 Minutes" broadcast on CBS in March dealing with allegations of poor workmanship and organized crime involvement in the construction of the Shoreham Nuclear Power Plant in New York.
Quite clearly, the integrity of the design, construction and safety measures of this plant are of serious concern to the people of nearby Greenwich, as

well as all the people of the State of Connecticut. On their behalf,I want to take every step available to insure that safety requirements are met. Our proximity to the Shoreham plant puts us at obvious risk in the event of a serious malfunction.
I recognize the federal jurisdiction and authority of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. I respectfully urge you to investigate the questions raised by the "60 Minutes" broadcast, and to order any remedial actions necessary to insure the safe construction and operation of this facility.
I would also ask that you let me know of the results of any such NRC inve-stigation, and that my name be put on the mailing list to receive any communications and notices with regard to the proceedings in this matter from time i. Thank you very much.
