REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF STORAGE CONTAINER TO STORE S AFEG U ARDS INFORM ATION The District intends to store Safeguards information in a storage container that d.oes j
not specifically meet the requirements of 10CFR 73.2 (mm), however, the container

does provide a level of security protection equal to or greater than the specific require-ments of 10CFR 73.2 (mm). This storage container will not be used to store information otherwise classified as National Security Inforation or Restricted Data.
The District requests that you apprcve the below described vault as a storage container for Safeguards Information:
Records Management Vault - This vault is physically located on the grade level of the Training and Records Buildlig, inside the Quality Assurance Office. The building itself is inside the Protected Area of Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Station, Unit No.1, located near Herald, California. The nuclear generating site is protected as specified by 10CFR 73.55 and an approved Rancho Seco Security Plan.
The vaul: is a steel reinforced concrete room, 50' x 20 ' x 9' high, built to ANSI N45.2.9-74 standards. The roof is a 10 inch thick concrete slab with #6 rebar on 10 inch center.
The walls are 8 inch thick concrete with #5 and #6 rebar,18 inch O.C. The floor is I
a 4 inch thick concrete slab on grade with 6 x 6 - 10 x 10 welded fabric steel reinforcement.
The vault door is made of steel, and has a 4 hour4.62963e-5 days <br />0.00111 hours <br />6.613757e-6 weeks <br />1.522e-6 months <br />, UL fire label, with a relocking device and a three position combination lock. The door lock is a three position, manipulation resistant, dial type, built-in combination lock. The vault door, and built-in lock, was manufactured by Schwab Safe Company, Inc., Lafictte, Indiana, it is a " Listed Relocking Device No. A648222 or an insulated vault door with a UL four hour fire rating". There are no other doors or windows into this vault.
If needed, the above information can be verified by NRC Region V office in Walnut Creek or by on-site NRC Resident inspectors. Your prompt attention to our request would be appreciated.
