NRC INTEGRATED INSPECTION REPORT 50-327/96 14 AND 50 328/96 14
Dear Mr. Kingsley:
-
On December 7,1996, the NRC completed an inspection at your Sequoyah
facility. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
During the six week period covered by this inspection, your conduct of
activities at the Sequoyah facility was generally characterized by good
operation
engineering, maintenance practices, and radiological work
controls.
However, as discussed in several recent Inspection Reports, the NRC
remains concerned with continued unreliability of plant equipment, which
during this period, resulted in two reactor trips, a main turbine runback and
a loss of condenser circulating water pumps. Several problems with the
'
feedwater heaters and drains systems resulted in operational challenges.
In addition, equipment problems are still evident with the main steam dump
,
systems on both units.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of
this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room
(PDR).
