SUBJECT:
EXCEPTION FROM 30-DAY WAITING PERIOD - TRANSNUCLEAR, INC.,
LICENSE AMENDMENT NO. 01 TO XSNM02143 Transnuclear, Inc., requested an amendment to export license XSNM02143 to increase the quantity of material authorized for export by an additional 53 grams of uranium to France for use in the HFR-Grenoble Research Reactor.
The supplier of the material (D0E) advised Trans-nuclear that the cylinder was filled with 53.753 kilograms of uranium, an overage of 53 grams.
The licensee requested that NRC waive the 30-day waiting period for this amendment in order to meet the urgent shipping schedule.
Mr. Robin DeLaBarre of The Department of State, and Ms. Nataly Martin of The Department of Energy, have concurred in the issuance of Amendment No. 01 to this export license.
Due to the small quantity of uranium involved in the amendment, an exception from the full 30-day waiting period is granted.
