LETTER REPORT DOCUMENTING THE REVIEW 0F THE SAR FOR THE FUEL RECEIVING AND STORAGE FACILITY, WVNS-SAR-012, REV. O, DRAFT C

Dear Mr. Sridhar:

I have reviewed the referenced submittal and find it acceptable.

The submittal adequately summarizes the Center's review and resolution of comments for WVNS-SAR-012.

Furthermore, feedback from the Department of Energy (D0E) credited your comments as being the most useful set of comments they had received during the review of this document. As such, intermediate milestone 20-5706-001-701 is considered to be completed.

However, as we discussed during our telephone conversation on December 23, 1996, DOE has opted to try to close out the three open items stated in your report.

Under their current schedule, DOE plans to submit responses during the week of January 6, 1997.

Based on our phone conversation, you stated that you shculd be able to close out these items and issue an updated report within 7 calendar days of receipt of DOE's responses. Also, as we discussed, the cover letter of your new report should also summarize the areas of WVNS-SAR-012 that you reviewed and your overall conclusions as to the safety of the information presented in WVNS-SAR-012.

If you have any questions, please call me at (301) 415-8106.

Sincerely, Original signed by GPangburn for Gary C. Comfort, Jr.
