NRC STAFF MOTION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME On June 24, 1985, the Applicants in the Vogtle operating license proceeding filed a Motion for Summary Disposition of Contention 8.

Contention C addresses a wide range of issues related to qu&lity assurance activities at the Vogtle site. The Motion is 79 pages long and was accompanied by a 28-page Statement of Material Facts,10 supporting affidavits totalling approximately 200 pages, and 37 documents of even greater volume.

The Staff is currently preparing its response to this Motion.

According to the Commission's Regulations (10 C.F.R. 92.749), the Staff response is due to be filed on July 19, 1985. Due to the sheer volume of material involved and in order to provide a complete response to the information contained in the Motion, the Staff respectully requests an extension of time to allow the Staff response to be filed by August 1, 1985. representative of the Joint Intervenors and is authorized to report that I

the Applicants have no objection to the requested extension and the Joint Intervenors similarly have no objection provided they are accorded an equivalent extension.
