Dear Mr. Chairman:

In accordance with the statutory obligation to respond to recommendations by the General Accounting Office (GA0) within 60 days of publication, we hereby submit our responses to the recommendations made by the GA0 in their report entitled, "The Nuclear Regulatory Commission Should Report on Progress In Implementing Lessons Learned from the Three Mile Island Accident."

The Conmission in its responses to the five GA0 recommendations notes that NRC efforts are already underway to provide a one-time report to Congress addressing GA0. concerns.

Specific comments on the GA0 recommendations are presented in the enclosure.
